State Department of Insurance (DOI) Links
The
following Dept. of Insurance (DOI)
websites provide an
excellent resource for learning about insurance in your particular
state.
Each
state's DOI website normally has areas devoted
to
insurance consumers, insurance agents/brokers, and insurance companies
doing
business in that state. It is also a wonderful place to learn
more about
the insurance company or insurance agent with whom you do
business. You
may, in fact, want to check on whether your insurance company is
admitted to do
business in your state or whether your insurance agent is licensed in
your
state for a particular line of insurance coverage—if so, the state's
DOI
website is a great place to start. A state's DOI is also normally
the
point of contact for insurance consumers who have insurance-related
concerns or
complaints. However, as always, if you are contacting the DOI to
address
a legal matter, we would advise that you contact an attorney who
specializes in
insurance matters first to review your options.
